PROGRAMS

Through directed donor funds generously contributed by the Bandai Foundation, the Cypress Police Foundation sponsored the participation of young adults in the Cypress Police Department Explorer Program. The Explorer Program, which is affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America, is designed for those individuals interested in learning and participating in a program concerning specific aspects of police work and the Criminal Justice system.

As a part of the Explorer training, young men and women between the ages of 14 and 20 are exposed to the diversity of law enforcement, including character building, patrol, ride-a-longs, communication, traffic and crowd control, jail procedures, searches, report writing, community relations, critical decision making skills, physical training and defensive tactics.

The Cypress Police Explorers assist in many community events such as the Cypress Community Festival and the 5/10K Run/Walk. The Explorer Post has an average membership of twenty dedicated young men and women.
